NAHJ LA presents: Racism in the news: A year after the media reckoning of 2020, where are we now?
A year after the media reckoning of 2020, where are we now?

Many newsrooms pledged to be more transparent about their staff diversity statistics and sources. Many pledged to reach parity goals or improve overall staff diversity. Many pledged to overhaul difficult environments for journalists from marginalized communities. They said they would do a better job of fairly covering our communities.

A year later, while some progress has been made, journalists of color are still largely reporting discrimination, racist or inaccurate news stories, a dearth of diversity in management, and painful work experiences.

How can we unite and overcome these challenges? How can we support each other? How do we move forward as an industry?

Join us for a 45-minute panel discussion followed by a 45-minute Q&A with the audience.
